3 Quick Ways to Create a Healthier Work Space



Life would be so much easier if exercise alone could undo the damage caused by sitting all day long. As a society, we are moving less and less. Unfortunately, this means we are sitting more and more. Which had lead to a surge in back pain.


Most of us are guilty as charged. Our job demands us to sit in front of a computer most of the day, then we sit in our cars to and from work, followed by a couple hours of tv time; again sitting on the couch. All things considered, the average American is now sits a staggering 9 hours a day.


Ouch!


“But I exercise regularly, I’m ok.”


This is a myth, one that most athletes believe. Here is the truth...


Our bodies are highly adaptable and generally adapt to the position we assume for most of the day

What does this mean? It means, if we are sitting all day long our tendons and muscles are adapting to a new norm, a norm in a compromised state. So what’s the solution?


Movement and Hydration.


While we can’t necessarily change our commute to work or our job, we can make small choices that lead to big changes. Follow these simple Rules of Movement to upgrade your office life.


1. For every hour sitting, stand up and move for 5 minutes.


2. Drink a combined 12oz of water every 2 hours.


3. If a meeting can be done without any presentation tools, choose to walk and talk for optimal effect.
